SAXTHORPE, a parish in the southern division of the hundred of ERPINGHAM, county of NORFOLK, 5 miles (N.W. by W.) from Aylsham, containing 342 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £4. 13. 4., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Master and Fellows of Pembroke Hall, Cambridge. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew.
