SCARNING, a parish in the hundred of LATINPITCH, county of NORFOLK, 2 miles (W. S. W.) from East Dereliam, containing 498 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £9. 19. Sir John Lombe, Bart, was patron in 1808. The church is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul. A free school was founded here and liberally endowed by William Seeker, in 1604.
