SCULTHORPE, a parish in the hundred of GALLOW, county of NORFOLK, 2 miles (N. W.) from Fakenham, containing 466 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £16. Mrs. Jones was patroness in 1811. The church, dedicated to All Saints, was erected by Sir Robert Knollys, K. G., who, from a common soldier, rose to rank and eminence as a commander under Edward III., acquired an immense fortune, and, for his good services in subduing Wat Tyler's rebellion, received the freedom of the city of London. He died at the manor-house here in the 92nd year of his age, and was buried in the church of the Carmelites, Fleet-street, London.
