SEATHWAITE, a chapelry in the parish of KIRKBY-IRELETH,
hundred of LONSDALE, north of the sands,
county palatine of LANCASTER, 8 miles (W. byN.) from
Hawkeshead, containing 208 inhabitants. The living is
a perpetual curacy, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the
Dean and Chapter of York, endowed with £400 private
benefaction, and £600 royal bounty, and in the patronage
of William Penny, Esq.
