SHARESHILL, a parish in the eastern division of the hundred of CUTTLESTONE, county of STAFFORD, 5 miles (N.N.E.) from Wolverhampton, containing, with the township of Great and Little Saredon, 583 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, with that of Penkridge, in the archdeaconry of Stafford, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £600 royal bounty, and in the patronage of E. J. Littleton, Esq. The church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, is a brick building, with an ancient tower of stone. The Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal crosses the north-western angle of the parish.
