SHELSWELL, a parish in the hundred of PLOUGHLEY, county of OXFORD, 6 miles (N. N. B.) from Bicester, containing 51 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, annexed to that of Newton-Purcell, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, rated in the king's books at £4. The church, which was dedicated to St. Ebbe, has been long desecrated.
