SHEPTON-BEAUCHAMP, a parish in the southern division of the hundred of PETHERTON, county of SOMERSET, 3 miles (N. E. by E.) from Ilminster, containing 567 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £14. 8. q1., and in the patronage of Robert Dent, Esq. and others. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. The poor children of this parish are instructed for £12. 12. a year, arising from the rent of certain land bequeathed by Thomas Rich, in 1723, and from £200, the gift of Elizabeth Morgan, in 1763.
