SHERFIELD-upon-LODON, a parish in the hundred of ODIHAM, Basingstoke division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 3 miles (N. E. by N.) from Basingstoke, containing 522 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at £11. 3. 6. The King, by reason of lunacy, presented in 1815. The church is dedicated to St. Leonard. James Sherfield, in 1735, gave £100 to build a school-house, and £25 a year for the education of the children of this parish, including four from Stratfield-Saye.
