SHIREHEAD, a chapelry in that part of the parish
of COCKERHAM which is in the hundred of AMOUNDERNESS,
county palatine of LANCASTER, 4 miles (N.
W. by N.) from Garstang. The population is returned
with the parish. The living is a perpetual curacy, in
the archdeaconry of Richmond, and diocese of Chester,
endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £800 royal
bounty.
