SHOTTSWELL, a parish in the Burton-Dassett
division of the hundred of KINGTON, county of WARWICK,
4 miles (N. N. W.) from Banbury, containing
268 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in
the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield
and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £5. 13. 4.,
and in the patronage of the Earl of Guildford. The
church is dedicated to St. Lawrence. There is a place
of worship for Wesleyan. Methodists.
