SILTON (NETHER), a chapelry in that part of
the parish of LEAK which is in the wapentake of BIRDFORTH,
North riding of the county of YORK, 8 miles
(N. by E..) from Thirsk, containing 202 inhabitants. The
living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage
of Leak, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Bishop of
Durham. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan
Methodists.
