SKELTON, a chapelry in that part of the parish of RIPON which is in the liberty of RIPON, West riding of the county of YORK, 4 miles (S. E. by E.) from Ripon, containing 314 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the jurisdiction of the peculiar court of Ripon, belonging to the Archbishop of York, endowed with £200 private benefaction, £800 royal bounty, and £800 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Ripon. The chapel is small, but handsomely built in the early style of English architecture.
