SLIPTON, a parish in the hundred of HUXLOE,
county of NORTHAMPTON, 3 miles (W. by N.) from
Thrapstone, containing 135 inhabitants. The living is a
discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Northampton,
and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's
books at £5. 12. 3., and in the patronage of the
Heirs of the Duke of Dorset. The church is dedicated
to St. John the Baptist.
