SNARESTON, a parish in the hundred of SPARKENHOE, county of LEICESTER, 7 miles (N. W.) from Market- Bosworth, containing 356 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the rectory of Sweepstone, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to St. Bartholomew. The Ashby de la Zouch canal passes through the parish. Snarestone is in the honour of Tutbury, duchy of Lancaster, and within the jurisdiction of a court of pleas held at Tutbury every third Tuesday, for the recovery of debts under 40s.
