SNODLAND, a parish, joint with Paddlesworth, in the hundred of LARKFIELD, lathe of AYLESFORD, county of KENT, 3 miles (N. E. by N.) from West Mailing, containing, with Paddlesworth, 438 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, with that of Paddlesworth, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Rochester, rated in the king's books at £20, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Rochester. The church is dedicated to All Saints? On a stream tributary to the Medway there is a papermill. John May, Esq., in 1800, founded a school for the instruction of forty children, and vested the government of it in the magistrates for the lathe.
