SOMERBY, a parish forming, with the parishes of
Cold Overton and Withcote, a detached portion of the
hundred of FRAMLAND, county of LEICESTER, 6 miles
(S. by E.) from Melton-Mowbray, containing 384 inhabitants.
The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry
of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated
in the king's books at £6. 16. 8. W. Hanbury, Esq.
was patron in 1814. The church, dedicated to All
Saints, is an ancient structure, with a tower and spire
rising from the centre. There is a place of worship for
Wesleyan Methodists.
