SOMERCOATES (SOUTH), a parish in the Marsh
division of the hundred of LOUTH-ESKE, parts of LINDSEY,
county of LINCOLN, 7 miles (N. E. by E.) from
Louth, containing 301 inhabitants. The living is a rectory,
in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated
in the king's books at £22. 6. 3., and in the patronage
of the King, as Duke of Lancaster. The church is
dedicated to St. Mary.
