SPARSHOLT, a parish in the hundred of BUDDLESGATE,
Fawley division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON,
3 miles (W. N. W.) from Winchester, containing, with
Lainson, 370 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage,
in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, rated
in the king's books at £16. 10. 2., and in the patronage
of the Crown. The church is dedicated to
St. Stephen. Sparsholt is within the jurisdiction of the
Cheyney Court held at Winchester every Thursday, for
the recovery of debts to any amount.
