STAINFORTH, a township in the parish of HATFIELD,
southern division of the wapentake of STRAFFORTH-and-TICKHILL,
West riding of the county of
YORK, 3 miles (W. S. W.) from Thorne, containing,
with South Bramwith, 694 inhabitants. There are
places of worship for Wesleyan Methodists and Unitarians.
Henry Travers, in 1706, bequeathed certain
land, directing the rental to be applied for teaching
poor children.
