STANTON-BURY, a parish in the hundred of NEWPORT, county of BUCKINGHAM, 3 miles (W. by S.) from Newport-Pagnell, containing 40 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £7. 6. 8., endowed with £200 royal bounty and £400 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of Earl Spencer. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, exhibits many Norman remains, particularly a fine and richly decorated arch between the nave and the chancel.
