STATHERN, a parish in the hundred of FRAMLAND, county of LEICESTER, S miles (N. by E.) from Melton-Mowbray, containing 456 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 16. 3. lj., and in the patronage of the Master and F-ellows of Peter House, Cambridge. The church is dedicated to St. Guthlake. The Grantham canal passes through the parish. There is a trifling endowment for a school, the gift of Joseph Westley, in 1735.
