STOCKLAND-BRISTOL, a parish in the hundred of CANNINGTON, county of SOMERSET, 7 miles (N. W. by N.) from Bridg-water, containing 199 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £ 6. 9. 4., and in the patronage of the Mayor and Corporation of Bristol. The church has lately received an addition of one hundred and twenty sittings, of which eighty are free, the Incorporated Society for the enlargement of churches and chapels having granted £ 50 towards defraying the expense.
