STOCKTON, a parish in the Southam division of the hundred of KNIGHTLOW, county of WARWICK, 2 miles (N. E. by E.) from Southam, containing 344 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £10. 7. 1., and in the patronage of the Warden and Fellows of New College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. The Warwick and Napton canal passes in the vicinity. The Rev. Charles Crane, in 1807, gave a house towards the support of a school, in which fifty children are instructed for £12 a year, arising from the church lands.
