STOCKWOOD, a parish in the liberty of SUTTONPOINTZ,
Dorchester division, though locally in the Sherborne
division, of the county of DORSET, 8 miles (S. S. W.)
from Sherborne, containing 33 inhabitants. The living
is a discharged rectory, in the peculiar jurisdiction of
the Dean of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at
£5.13.4., and in the patronage of Thomas Bellamy, Esq.
The church is dedicated to St. Edwold.
