STOKE, a parish in the hundred of Hoo, lathe
of AYLESFORD, county of KENT, 8 miles (N. E.) from
Rochester, containing 350 inhabitants. The living is a
discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese
of Rochester, rated in the king's books at £8. 11. 8.,
endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200
royal bounty. B. Duppa, Esq. was patron in 1811.
The church is dedicated to St. Peter.
