STOKE (NORTH), a parish in the hundred of
LANGTREE, county of OXFORD, 2 miles (S.) from Wallingford,
containing 203 inhabitants. The living is a
vicarage, with the perpetual curacy of Newnham-Murren
annexed, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford,
rated in the king's books at £14. 10., and in the
patronage of the Master and Fellows of St. John's
College, Cambridge. The church is dedicated to St.
Mary.
