STOKE-CLIMSLAND, a parish in the northern division of the hundred of EAST, county of CORNWALL, 3 miles (N.) from Callington, containing 1524 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Cornwall, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £40, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is a very spacious structure, with a fine tower. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The parish is bounded on the north by the river Inney, which runs into the Tamar on the east, and near the romantic and picturesque rocks of Cartharmartha. A fair for cattle is held on May 29th. There are two small sums, bequeathed by Ralph Tope, in 1718, and Joan Clarke, in 1783, in support of a school.
