STOKE-GOLDINGTON, a parish in the hundred of NEWPORT, county of BUCKINGHAM, 4 miles (W.S. W.) from Olney, containing 818 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, united in 1736 to that of Gay hurst, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 14. 6. 3. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. The river Ouse runs through the parish, in which lime and other stone abound. There was formerly a chapel at Eakley, which is said to have been once a distinct parish.
