STOKESBY, a parish in the eastern division of the
hundred of FLEGG, county of NORFOLK, 2 miles (E.)
from Acle, containing, with the parish of Herringby,
294 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, with that of
Herringby united, in the archdeaconry and diocese of
Norwich, rated in the king's books at £13. 6. 8., and
in the patronage of William Downes, Esq. The church
is dedicated to St. Andrew. There is a place of worship
for Wesleyan Methodists.
