STOWE-NINE-CHURCHES, a parish in the hundred of FAWSLEY, county of NORTHAMPTON, 5 miles (S. E. by B.) from Daventry, containing 395 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £ 18, and in the patronage of the Rev. J. L. Crawley. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, contains a magnificent monument, erected by Nicholas Stone, in 1617, to the memory of Elizabeth, fourth daughter of John, Lord Latimer. The Grand Junction canal passes through the parish, and the ancient Watling-street forms its eastern boundary. The Rev. Edward Williams bequeathed the interest of & 120 for teaching poor children, and providing them with books.
