STRADBROOK, a parish in the hundred of HOXNE, county of SUFFOLK, 5 miles (E.) from Eye, containing 1400 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £9. 18. 6., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Ely. The church is dedicated to All Saints. Thereis a place of worship for Baptists. William Greenling, in 1599, bequeathed land to be applied, among other purposes, in support of a school j and Michael Wentworth, in 168?', gave the town house for the use of the poor, with a chamber for a school. Mary Warner also, in 1746, left an annuity of £ 10 for teaching twelve children.
