STURRY, a parish in the hundred of BLEANGATE, lathe of ST-AUGUSTINE, county of KENT, 2 miles (N. E.) from Canterbury, containing 878 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at £13. 1. 8., and in the patronage of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church, dedicated to St. Nicholas, is in the early style of English architecture, with a tower surmounted by a spire. The river Stour runs through the parish, and is crossed by a bridge at the village, which is large and well built, on the road between Canterbury and the Isle of Thanet. A fair is held here on Whit-Monday.
