SUNDERLAND (NORTH), a township in the parish and northern division of BAMBROUGH ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND, 85 miles (B. by S.) from Belford,containing 566 inhabitants. There is a place of worship for Presbyterians. Seven children are educated for £ 5 a year, with a house and garden for the. master1, allowed by the trustees of Lord Crewe's estate. This township has the North sea on the east, and possesses a small port, subject to Berwick, from which corn, fish and lime are exported; of the latter article considerable quantities are burned at the kilns in the neighbourhood.
