SWINFORD, a parish in the hundred of GUTHLAXTON,
county of LEICESTER, 3 miles (S. B. by S.)
from Lutterworth, containing 450 inhabitants. The
living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of
Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's
books at £5. 7- 11., and in the patronage of Lady Cave.
The church, dedicated to All Saints, has lately received
an addition of one hundred free sittings, the Incorporated
Society for the enlargement of churches and chapels
having granted A 50 towards defraying the expense.
Here was a preceptory of the Knights Templars.
