TEVERSALL, a parish in the northern division of the hundred of BROXTOW, county of NOTTINGHAM, 5 miles (W. byN.) from Mansfield, containing 414 inha. bitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £9. 19. 2., and in the patronage of Miss Henrietta Howard Molyneux. The church, dedicated to St. Catherine, is principally in the Norman style, and contains several old monuments of the Grenhalghe, Molyneux, and Babingtoa families. South of it are the extensive ruins of the ancient mansion-house built by Gilbert Grenhalghe, in the reign of Henry VII., and the remains of a hanging garden, on a very magnificent scale. Coal and limestone abound in the parish, but neither are now worked.
