THOCKRINGTON, a parish in the north-eastern
division of TINDALE ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND,
comprising the townships of Little Bavington,
Cary-Coats, Sweethope, and Thockrington, and containing
201 inhabitants, of which number, 48 are in
the township of Thockrington, 11 miles (N. by E.)
from Hexham. The living is a perpetual curacy,
in the peculiar jurisdiction and patronage of the
Prebendary of Thockrington in the Cathedral Church
of York, endowed with £ 200 private benefaction, and
£400 royal bounty.
