THURNHAM, a township in that part of the parish
of LANCASTER which is iu the hundred of LONSDALE,
south of the sands, county palatine of LANCASTER, 4
miles (S. S. W.) from Lancaster, containing 448 inhabitants.
Glasson dock, tin- modern harbour of Lancaster,
is within this township, and the venerable ruins of
Coekersand abbey are in the neighbourhood.
