THWING, a parish in the wapentake of DICKERING,
East riding of the county of YORK, 8 miles (W.
N.W.) from Bridlington, containing, with the townships
of Octon, Octon-Grange, and Wold-Cottage, 314 inhabitants.
The living is a rectory in medieties, in the
archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York,
each rated in the king's books at £8. 12. 1., and in the
patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to
All Saints.
