TIDDESLEY-HAY, a liberty (extra-parochial), containing about three thousand five hundred acres, in the eastern division of the hundred of CUTTLESTONE, county of STAFFORD, 2 miles (N. E.) from Penkridge, containing 43 inhabitants. This was a royal chace, adjoining that of Cannock, till the reign of Elizabeth, who granted it jointly to the Earls of Warwick and Leicester, by whom it was sold to Sir Edward Littleton, of Pillaton Hall: there were at that time no other enclosures upon it than two ancient parks, and in that state it continued till recently, when it was wholly enclosed by E. J. Littleton, Esq. M.P., its present proprietor.
