TITSEY, a parish in the second division of the
hundred of TANDRIDGE, county of SURREY, 5 miles
(N. E. by E.) from Godstone, containing 167 inhabitants.
The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of
Surrey, and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's
books at £7. 17- 3., and in the patronage of W. L.
Gower, Esq. The river Medway has one of its sources
in this parish. Lime of a superior quality is burnt
from the chalk-pits at the foot of Botley hill.
