TWYFORD, a parish in the eastern division of the hundred of GOSCOTE, county of LEICESTER, 6 miles (S. by W.) from Melton-Mowbray, containing, with the chapelry of Thorpe-Satchville, 495 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage with that of Hungerton, united in 1732, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 8.8. 6., and in the patronage of Sir T. H. Apreece, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew.
