UFFORD, a parish in the liberty of PETERBOROUGH, county of NORTHAMPTON, 4 miles (N. N. E.) from Wansford, containing, with the hamlet of Ashton, 279 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £26. 13. 4., and in the patronage of the Master and Fellows of St. John's College, Cambridge. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. The river Welland runs through the parish, and the JRoman road from the station at Castor, leading towards Lincoln, bounds it on the east.
