ULGHAM, a chapelry (parochial) in the eastern di- vision of MORPETH ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND, 5 miles (N. E. by N.) from Morpeth, containing 348 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the rectory of Morpeth, in the archdeaconry of Northumberland, and diocese of Durham. The chapel is dedicated to St. John. Coal is found here, on the banks of the river Line. A market was formerly held, and the ancient market-cross still remains in the village.
