UPTON, a parish in the hundred of STOKE, county of BUCKINGHAM, a mile (S. E.) from Slough, containing, with the hamlet of Chalvey, and a portion of the town of Slough, which is in this parish, 1268 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £6.17., endowed with £8 per annum private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the. Crown. The church, dedicated to St. Lawrence, has a fine Norman doorway, and is. principally in that style of architecture.
