WADDINGTON, a parish within the liberty of LINCOLN, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 4 miles (S.) from Lincoln, containing, with Meer Hospital, 701 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £20. 16. 8., and in the patronage of the Rector and Fellows of Lincoln College, Oxford. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, is principally in the Norman style. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. This parish participates, with others within the limits of the city and county of the city of Lincoln, in the benefits of the Blue-coat school and hospital founded, in 1602, by Richard Smith, M.D.; and the Jersey school, established, in 1693, pursuant to the will of Henry Stone, Esq.
