WALDINGFIELD (GREAT), a parish in the hundred of BABERGH, county of SUFFOLK, 3 miles (N. E. by E.) from Sudbury, containing 711 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Sudbury, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £21. 6. 8., endowed with upwards of £400 private benefaction, and £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Master and Fellows of Clare Hall, Cambridge. The church, dedicated to St. Lawrence, has lately received an addition of one hundred and twenty sittings, of which seventy are free, the Incorporated Society for the enlargement of churches and chapels having granted £30 towards defraying the expense.
