WALLASEA (ISLE-OF), an island, partly in the parishes of CANEWDON, EASTWOOD, PAGLESHAM, GREAT-STAMBRIDGE, and LITTLE-WAKERING, hundred of ROCHFORD, county of ESSEX, 6 miles (E.N.E.) from Rochford. It is now a peninsula, formed by the rivers Crouch and Broomhill, and joined to the main land by a causeway, kept up at the expense of the several parishes to which it belongs.
