WALTHAM, a parish in the hundred of BRIDGE-and-PETHAM, lathe of ST-AUGUSTINE, county of KENT, 7 miles (S. S. W.) from Canterbury, containing, with the inmates of the poorhouse of twelve united parishes, 582 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, annexed to that of Petham, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at £7. 15. 5. The church, dedicated to St. Bartholomew, is in the early style of English architecture. The parish is bounded on the east by Stane Street.
