WALTHAM (BRIGHT), a parish in the hundred
of FAIRCROSS, county of BERKS, 5 miles (W.S.W.) from
East Ilsley, containing 450 inhabitants. The living is
a-rebtory, in the archdeaconry of Berks and diocese of
Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £11. 15., and in
the patronage of Mrs. Plumptre. The church is dedicated
to All Saints. The parish is entitled to send two
children to the school founded at Chaddleworth by
William Saunders.
