WALTHAM (NORTH), a parish in the hundred of
OVERTON, Kingsclere division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON,
6 miles (S. W. by W.) from Basingstoke, containing
373 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in
the peculiar jurisdiction of the Incumbent, rated in the
king's books at £15. 13. 4., and in the patronage of the
Bishop of Winchester. The church is dedicated to St.
Michael. This parish is within the jurisdiction of the
Cheyney Court held at Winchester every Thursday, for
the recovery of debts to any amount.
